Aiming to locate “a certain vision of the human condition,” Launa Bacon’s video piece, “12 Ways,” relates to the need to imitate and confront representational tropes of women in the media.
Examining contemporary concerns of feminism; the work explores the notion of power being defined by violence not only in the media but through history, by religion, and in current political conflict.
Tackling a hefty polemic, Bacon poses the question, why are women bound in this cycle of having to reclaim our physical rights and the absurdity that a fetus gains more rights than a woman.
